Natural Resources Law, also known as Oil,
Gas and Mineral Law relates to ownership, conveyancing, development and
financing of these substances. The practice of oil, gas and mineral law
requires knowledge of land, its title and disposition, leases,
contracts and other documents typically used in oil, gas, and mineral
transactions, statutes and regulations affecting oil, gas and minerals,
and state ownership of minerals. The board certified attorney in this
area has specific knowledge about the ownership of oil, gas and
minerals, trespass on those ownership rights, the use requirements and
limitations of state and public lands, the practices of “pooling” and
“farm-outs”, mining rights, and the terms and requirements of other
industry contracts.
